Report: SCV Mello Sustain Still Going

Reports out of Indianapolis confirm that on January 12th, a full 2,346 days after the 2018 DCI World Champions ended, the infamous Santa Clara Vanguard Mellophone Sustain is still being held.

“I know its cliche to say it, but we’ve truly never seen anything like this on the field” remarked DCI Artistic Director Lee Carlson.

None of the Santa Clara Vanguard Mellophone Section members were available for comment regarding this story. We did receive several confused glances from behind the bells of mellophones, for what it’s worth.

Brass Arranger J.D. Shaw, who has since returned to the staff of the Phantom Regiment, chimed in: “This is the most talent SCV has had in their mello line since I joined the design team, and it’d be a shame to put that to waste. These performers deserve to be showcased. They will be remembered for this.”

Up and coming pop-artist Taylor Swift was set to perform in Lucas Oil Stadium on September 15th, but rescheduled out of respect for the performers. “Drum Corps is an incredible art form that deserves more recognition in popular culture” said Swift “these performers have nothing but my absolute respect and support.”

Vanguard has accrued an estimated 7,496 points in timing penalties as of this writing.
